Encouragement for your walk with God

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” – James 1:17

Mountains and Treasure

One day I was praying and the Lord spoke a phrase into my heart. He said, “I will level the mountains and reveal treasure.”  I then opened my Bible and literally turned straight to Isaiah 45:2- 3, which says, “I will go before you and will level the mountains…I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places.” It was a pretty profound word and confirmation! It blew me away! So I began illustrating His promise with a mountain peak’s top cut off and hidden treasure radiating from it.

First, God wants to level the mountains in our life.  Mountains represent obstacles that get in our way; obstacles that try to block us from God’s blessings and more importantly from God himself. Mountains can be hardships, sin, worry, sickness, depression, provisional needs…  Because God is all-powerful and almighty, nothing is impossible.  No mountain is too difficult for God to remove!

Secondly, God wants to reveal treasures to us.  The treasures are God’s promises and blessings He has stored up for us in the secret places.  He wants to bless us.  He wants to give us good things.  Thank you Lord for revealing the treasures you have for us from the mountains and for delivering us from the obstacles that try to keep us from you!

Good and Perfect Gifts

Treasure was a really fun piece because it was the first night picture I’d ever illustrated. I added the stars and Father God showed me the verse about his good and perfect gift(s) coming down to us from above, for he is the creator of those beautiful heavenly lights.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17)

God is a good Father.  His heart is for us and as his children we are privileged to receive his gifts.  Thank you Lord for being our good Father.  We receive your good and perfect gifts with joy and thanksgiving!

“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”

-Jeremiah 33:3

Thanks Sally for reading my blog! I really enjoyed writing it and the “Treasure” artwork is very special because of the way God spoke to me. I pray God will also speak to you and that He will bless you with many treasures from his heavenly storehouse!

I read this post a few weeks ago, and that week in church my pastor shared on the storms we encounter in our lives. At the end of the sermon, he told this story: A man was walking along the Florida coast shortly after a large hurricane, and he stumbled upon a treasure chest. He shared his findings, and people pieced together that this chest was from a ship that had wrecked hundreds of years before off the coast, and somehow or other the chest was buried under the beach. People walked over it constantly, unaware of what was there, until the hurricane came and unearthed it. My pastor shared that we may not like the storms that God allows in our lives, but sometimes He uses them to reveal treasure that we would not ordinarily find. I thought the sermon and your post went together, and wanted to share this to say that I believe God spoke to me through this work.

I’m really glad, Brandon, God spoke to you through “Treasure” and thanks for sharing the story about the buried treasure being revealed after a storm. That was encouraging and a really neat story! You are definitely hearing the Lord. I’m so thankful God has hidden things for us, treasure, that he reveals in his perfect timing. May God bless you and I pray you will find many treasures from your loving Father hidden just for you, His loving son!
