Encouragement for your walk with God
“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” -Matthew 21:22
Believing Is Seeing
Faith To Move Mountains began with the drawing of a rock (which God showed me later was a mountain) and on that rock I wrote, “If you believe, you will receive.” Matthew 21:22 says, “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Behind the words believe and receive I wrote See. It was an awesome revelation the Lord gave me about believing, receiving, and seeing for the following reasons:
Believing happens in the spiritual through faith. When we ask for something and believe through faith, then our spiritual eyes can see it. The result of believing (seeing it spiritually) is then receiving it and literally seeing (physically or spiritually) what we’ve been praying for. Many times God will answer our prayer when we have faith to see it. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1, KJV).
A popular quote says seeing is believing, but I’d like to suggest believing is seeing. We must first believe and have faith for that which we can’t see yet. Just because we are asking for something in prayer doesn’t mean it’s not there or doesn’t mean God won’t give it to us. Sometimes we just need to ask believing. “…You do have because you do not ask God” (James 4:2).
Faith
The hands in Faith To Move Mountains are praying hands, because Matthew 21:22 talks about asking through prayer. Inside the shadow of the fingers I drew a cross (it also looks like a sword which was not on purpose). The Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God, who is Jesus, and when we pray, we can use God’s Word through his Spirit.
After drawing the hands, I decided to write things I was praying for around the hands, such as Holiness, Hope, Purity, and Faith. Later I realized that the hands and words resembled an eye! Having faith in prayer is seeing those things come to pass.
The word Faith at the top in the sky really brought the artwork together, because it is by faith we are able “to move mountains.”
Prayer Is Powerful
In the end, the bottom left corner was still blank and I really didn’t know what to put in that space. I prayed for a few days about it and then felt the Lord say to go back to the scripture. So I did and here is what it said:
Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” (Matthew 21:21-22)
Verse 21 talks about throwing the mountain into the sea. That was my answer, so I drew an ocean in that blank space below the mountain. It really came together well.
Prayer is powerful, especially when we pray in Faith and do not doubt. We have authority through Jesus and when we use that authority great things happen. We can say to the mountains in our life to move and they will be cast into the sea. When we pray and believe we can ask for anything in His name (the name of Jesus) and it will be ours.
I want to believe and see miracles. I want to receive the things I’m praying for. Believing is seeing. So if we have faith and believe, then we’ll see (receive) what we’ve been asking for in prayer. Amen to that!
