Encouragement for your walk with God

“Be made new in the attitude of your minds; and…put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” -Ephesians 4:23-24
New Mind, New Attitude
The blood of Christ was poured out for us; it’s because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross that the chain of our old self can be broken.
In Broken Chain, Grace Like Rain, the blood is transforming into water, because it is Christ’s blood that washes us clean. The grace (gift) of God is Jesus and He’s raining down on us.
“It is by grace you have been saved, through faith” (Ephesians 2:8).
The clouds (look closely for the words Righteousness and Holiness) represent the new mind change, or attitude change that happens when we follow Christ. What’s interesting is that Ephesians 4 says to, “put on the new self” and to “be made new in the attitude of your minds.” It’s a command to change. Even though we are “new creations in Christ” according to 2 Corinthians 5:17, and saved by grace, we are still commanded to put on the new self (for example, the fruits of the Spirit) and change our way of thinking. It’s important to start thinking like Christ and walking out our faith in obedience through the help of the Holy Spirit.
Righteousness And Holiness
One of the hardest things I’ve had to do is to see myself as righteous and holy. Perhaps it’s because I still sin and make mistakes. Perhaps it’s because Satan is good at condemning and lying. Nonetheless, Jesus does not condemn and he tells the truth (He is the Truth). Jesus says to us, “You are holy. You are righteous.” Having the mind of Christ and truly seeing ourselves the way Christ sees us is very important. We are holy and we are righteous. Not because of anything we’ve done, but because of what Christ did for us.
The chain of our old self that has held our minds captive can be broken. The old self does not have to rule our lives. As Christians we are new and have righteousness and holiness. When we start to put on the new self and have an attitude change of our minds, then God’s grace will rain down in ways we’ve never imagined and we will shine as “children of light.”
“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord.”
-Ephesians 5:8-10
May the grace of Jesus rain on you and may you be made new in the attitude of your mind. True righteousness and holiness are breaking through. From heaven to earth it is breaking through! Thank you Lord!
