Encouragement for your walk with God

“I am the vine; you are the branches.  If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”    –John 15:5

God Will Change Us

Have you ever longed for change?  Spiritually speaking change is sometimes hard to come by.  It takes time and it takes perseverance.  Not that God can’t instantly do a miracle or change us.  But it is a process to go from glory to glory.  It is something that God does in us as we connect more in Him.  Over time, however long that may be, we become disciplined more and more and He trains us, fine-tunes us, shapes us, and helps us along the way.  It’s not easy and at times it seems impossible.  It’s even painful, but in time God will change us.  And He will also use us for His kingdom in ways we never imagined.  But how can we experience this change?  How do we begin to see change, especially if it seems unattainable?

Year Of Change

The way we can begin to see change in our lives is by being connected to the source of life and the one who can change it.  That one is Jesus Christ.  He is the ultimate source of life and light.  In fact He is called the Life and the Light.  From the beginning He was and is and always will be.

Without Jesus we are nothing.  Without Jesus we are utterly lost and incapable of truly seeing and knowing real permanent change.  This spiritual change starts inside our hearts and minds and then flows out to our physical being.  We are called to be holy.  We are called to be righteous.  Our bodies are to be “living sacrifices, holy and pleasing (acceptable) to God…” (Romans 12:1).   Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit.  We are to honor Him with our bodies.  As followers of Jesus change is inevitable but not always instant.

Learning to walk in the light is not easy but it is possible.  Learning to walk by the Spirit is not easy but it is doable.  It all starts with Jesus and ends with Jesus.  He is the “author and finisher (perfector)” of our faith (Hebrews 12:2 ).

Don’t give up!  Don’t give in!  If you do, focus back on Him!  Jesus will help us, change is possible and your year of change may happen when you least expect it.  The truth is,  God is never late.  He is always on time and He is intentional even when we are not.  God will accomplish all that He wants to in your life.  Keep going, keep seeking and keep following!

We will go through different (and difficult) seasons and through the many seasons of our lives we will be able to look back and see the changes.  We will see the glory to glory.

What season are you in right now?  Is it a waiting season?  Is it a persevering season?  Is it a difficult season with spiritual attacks?  Perhaps a blessing season?  Through it all, continue to move forward, stay in the Word, be filled with the Spirit and lean on the one who is holding us and helping us and directing our lives.  He will never leave nor forsake!  And He will change us from glory to glory to glory to glory!

“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” – Galations 3:25

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive (see) it?…” – Isaiah 43:18-19

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher (perfecter) of our faith…”   -Hebrews 12:2
